Last night we got to baptize a wonderful daughter of God. Her name was Dina Caruso. She is my hero. As I reflect on our lessons with her it brings tears to my eyes. I also laugh at all the fun we have had teaching her. She is so honest and she was really looking for God. She asked the best questions and we had some very spiritual experiences with her. God was with us in our lessons.
We found her in our old records of people the missionaries used to teach. My companion, who is from Fiji, gave her a call. She couldn't understand a word he was saying. I could hear her shout at him to give the phone to someone who could speak English! After handing the phone to me we were able to set up a dinner with her. The rest is history. She has faced trial and opposition, but God has helped her through it. She read, prayed, and came to church. She did everything we asked her to do. Last night we saw her in white. She is a new person in Christ. He changed her.
Her apartment was always dark. She likes to hide out in her little cave, as she calls it. She doesnt really fancy getting out much. There is a big blanket covering her front window to block the sunlight. I had my doubts that we'd ever be able to get her to Church on Sunday, but she came. Then she came again. She fell in love with it. It was as if the blanket had come down in her life and the sunlight poured in. She has it. She is so much happier now. You can see it in her eyes how real it is to her. She is a testimony to me that God changes hearts. I love seeing people follow our Savior as she has done.
I hope we all can remove the blanket in our lives. There is so much sunshine outside. The Gospel has so much to offer all of Gods children. Everyone needs to be baptized and experience the same change that has taken place in Dina. That change has also happened in my life. It will happen in yours if you just let the sunlight in. Don't hide out in your cave any longer. We all need to find out the glorious truth of the Restored gospel of Jesus Christ.
Thank you Dina for all you have done for me. I know you are on the path to eternal life.
As I read this post, I couldn't help but think of John 8:12...

Truly Christ is the Light of this world, and will light our path back to Him and Eternal Life. Congrats to you Dina! You will find that life is better when you let the light shine down
This is beautiful:) It brings tears to my eyes just reading it. The gospel of Jesus Christ does change our hearts and life:) I am grateful for that!
